It all started when…

For many years of my life, I resided in my head. I was your typical overthinker, living life at a fast pace and ticking off tasks as I went. In my early twenties, I travelled around the world and sought out new places to call home, but I didn’t give myself the time and space to get to know my one true home – my body. 

I was such a planner then, but it was a series of unplanned events on one of my adventures that led me to give yoga a go. An accident in Vietnam rendered my carefully considered travel itinerary impossible and so, left with nothing else to do, I brought my bruised leg and battered ego to a restorative yoga class.

The class was the opposite of everything that I usually signed up for and yet, it was exactly what I needed. I took the time to rest, to breathe, and to feel sensation in the body that I had long ignored. I surrendered. 

I remember leaving that class with a deep sense of peace. At the beginning of the class, the teacher had uttered one simple phrase: ‘reconnect with the part of you that is always calm’. Through the practice of yoga, I was offered a rare glimpse of this part of me, and of the possibility of living in a more gentle and mindful way.

This experience sparked my curiosity for yoga and I began to practice regularly. Every time I met myself on my mat, I got to know myself and my body a little bit more. Over time, it brought me on a path towards a deeper connection with myself. Ultimately, it brought me on the path home.

My experiences on the yoga mat have positively affected my life off of the yoga mat and because of this, I am passionate about sharing the practice with others. Through my classes, I hope to support people in reconnecting with themselves and finding a sense of peace and comfort in their bodies. My classes are suitable for everyone, and no yoga experience is necessary. All you need is some time, a body and some curiosity!
